Katie Baum was born in New York City and grew up in Baltimore. She received a BA in Art from Guilford College, NC, with a concentration in Photography. Katie began photographing in black and white focusing on the back roads of North Carolina. She moved to California in the late 90's where she became drawn to shooting medium format square images. Her work is conceptual, with an emphasis on telling a story through color imagery. Her photographs have been exhibited throughout California, where she currently resides, and back east where her roots are.
